Hugh Cornwall for Academy Show
You may not be overly familiar with the name but you’re bound to know the songs he’s behind.
Singer/sogwriter/guitarist Hugh Cornwell, who was with the Stranglers from their start up to 1990, is bringing his groundbreaking new album, Hooverdam to The Academy this Friday March 27th.
Cornwall was the man responsible for classics such as Golden Brown, Peaches and No More. He’s regarded as one of the most legendary singer/songwriters and his new album is regarded as perhaps being his best offering yet, resembling his earlier days of classic rock with the Stranglers. Bound to be a great show, especially for old Stranglers fans!
Spandau Ballet Get On The of Re-forming Bands-wagon
I’m sure they are of course in it for the music but Spandau Ballet are reforming for what’s rumoured to be a £12 million tour. The 80’s chart-toppers have even included some Irish stop offs in Dublin’s O2 on October 13th and The Odyssey, Belfast on the 14th.
The eighties icons announced their comeback plans today in rather nautical fashion aboard the HMS Belfast in London. Spandau Ballet were the key band in the New Romantic music movement of the 80s and had a huge fanbase as well as top selling records. The band split in 1990 but they’re looking forward to getting back on the road and bringing some nostalgia to their fans.
Tickets for the Dublin gig go on sale on Thursday April 2 priced from €49.20.
