The Maccabees Announce Academy Gig

They’re hailed as Brighton’s brightest export and are bringing their pop rock to Dublin’s Academy on Wednesday May 27th. Following the success of their debut album “Colour it In” the band have recieved a whole lot of fantastic press. Their first offering was also voted best alternative pop record of 2007 by NME and lead to their single “Toothpaste Kisses” being heard by many new fans.

Their eagerly anticipated second album “Wall of Arms” is set for Irish release on May 1st. So by the time you listen to that you’re sure to become a fan of the Brighton boys. Tickets for their Academy gig go on sale this Friday March 20th at €16 including booking fee.

Meteor Award winning Wallis Bird to play Irish shows

The singer is no doubt still recovering from her triumph at the Meteors on Tuesday night, however she’s confirmed that she will play Whelan’s, Dublin on July 24th and Cyprus Avenue, Cork on the 25th.

The singers had a pretty busy week this week including a trip to SXSW in Texas! She’s currently in the studio in Germany putting the finishing touches to her new album thats due for release this summer.

Tickets are priced at €20 and €17.50 respectively and go on sale this Friday, March 20.

Jape changes Dublin dates

The Choice winner has been forced to postpone his Button Factory gig that was due to be on May 1st. Due to some European touring commitments Richie and the band are now playing the gig on May 23rd instead.

If you have already got tickets for the original date then don’t fret as they are still valid! There are some tickets still on sale, priced €17 from Ticketmaster, City Discs, Sound Cellar and usual outlets.

The Chapters play Dublin

Following a busy year of extensive touring, Dublins future bright prospects The Chapters have announced a gig at The Academy 2 next month. The band supported Cathy Davey and Neil Young to name just a few in 2008 and are very eargerly anticipating the release of their long awaited album this year.

After mess ups with production companys and record labels largely due to recession-itis The Chapters have finally struck some luck and have now siged to 3u Records. The band will take to the stage of The Academy 2 on April 30. The gig will be a taster of whats to come when their new album ‘Perfect Stranger’ is released on June 5th on 3u Records. ‘Video Tapes’ will be the first single from the album and is due for release on May 1st.
